Lipreading in the Car
Does your child find it difficult to understand and communicate with you in the car? Then, why not try a 'lipreading mirror'? This is an additional mirror placed on the windscreen (as you would for a baby-view mirror), and situated in a position that enables your child to lipread you whilst you are driving. You can concentrate on the road and not have to turn your head round. If you're the passenger, angle the mirror round so that your child can see you and lip-read. Much easier!
NOTE: do not use a 'baby-view' mirror as this distorts lip patterns.
What one parent said after trying this out: 'It's fantastic, I can now chat to my child and not have to turn around anymore. So much better!'
