Royston Kite Festival

It's a great day out, offering you the chance to make kites and see professional kite flyers in action. Phoenix will be running a fundrasing stall. If you can spare an hour to main the stall please let us know.

Ashwell Show - Bank Holiday

The Ashwell Show is a great day out for the family - it is a country show with a wide range of activites and stalls, including a horse show, a dog show and birds of prey. We will be running a fundrasing stall so, if you'd like a day out and can spare an hour or two, please let us know. Thanks.

Charity Stall Deaf Awareness Week

We’re holding a charity stall in the town centre right next to the fountain.

Deaf Awareness Week

Deaf Awareness Week will be happening w/c 28 June so please have a think about how you can support Phoenix. This years theme is ‘Look at Me’ and aims to improve understanding of deafness by highlighting the different methods of communication used by deaf children, such as sign language and lip reading.

Around 80 per cent of deaf children are educated in a mainstream school, so it is really important that their peers are aware of issues that deaf children can face, particularly the need to see their face when being spoken to.

There many fun ways in which you can get your office, school or youth club to support us:

• Mufty day (minimum donation of £1 per pupil)
• Lip-reading challenge – see if you can correctly lip-read a range of words
• Sponsored silence – to understand how much harder it is for a deaf child to communicate with others
• Signathon – get someone to teach you some basic signs and be sponsored for every new sign learnt
• Fingerspell challenge – learn how to fingerspell and make up words
• Sponsored swim
• Cake sale

If you have any empty inkjets and / or unwanted old mobile phones please ask us for an envelope, bring them into the Stevenage office, a workshop or The Youth Group. We could receive up to £30 for a mobile and £1 for every inkjet donated.
